What do you do when your mother deserves an island but you can only afford a candle?
Oh, the struggle every year on Mother’s Day. How can you show your love and appreciate for someone that deserves so much? I am so thankful for my mom, and all she does for us. It’s so easy to make Mother’s Day all about mom, and then the next day go right back to the way things were. Not appreciating her, and forgetting to show her how much I love her!
But it’s always fun to have a day that is specially set aside for us to try to make mom feel loved! Joelle made pancakes and bacon for breakfast, and I made dinner. And today on the blog, I wanted to share 3 things about my mom that make me love her even more…
1. She has always been so encouraging to me (and my sisters!) in everything we set out to do. When I first started in photography, I was terrible. But she was my biggest fan in the world, and I know that it was her encouragement that grew my business to where it is now.
2. She is the perfect example of what it means to be an amazing wife. Not because she’s perfect, but because she shows me daily through her actions what it means to strive to be a Godly wife and mom.
3. Mom has the ability to figure out problems and work with her hands, to a degree I just was not given ;) I am so thankful for that quality in her though, because our whole family is constantly blessed by it! Whether it’s randomly replacing outlets, putting together a bike, or throwing together an amazing dinner with a bunch of leftovers. Mom can really do it all.
Thank you so much for all you do, mom! Love you!
I am so proud of myself for coming up with this idea… I had an artist (Lydia Carns) draw each of the houses we’ve lived in, and it turned out AMAZING! I’ve been keeping it a secret for months, and I was so excited to give it to her.
Happy Mother’s Day!
I love your mom’s reaction to the gift! And, wow, that gift is epic. Loveeee. :)
