I am so excited that you're here! This is where I share my latest sessions, personal photos, and funny life stories. You'll quickly hear about my obsessive cleaning habits, my adorable pup, and probably a little something about fruit pizza (only the best food ever created). So grab a drink (something iced for me... yes, even in the winter), and scroll through the archives!

Almost 2015

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that these end of the year posts are my absolute favorite!! I look forward to making them every year :)

You also probably know that I have known for a very long time that 2014 was going to be the best year ever. I won’t write another long post about that, but you can read about it here! I just wanted to say that 2014 has been the best. It has been the very best year of my life!!

January 2014

I started the year off by attending Winterfest! It was a great way to ring in the New Year :) DJ gave me a recipe for meatballs that is literally my favorite recipe of all time. Make these right now. I took pictures of Oliver in his bandanas, and decided that he was the absolute cutest EVER. DJ and I took pictures downtown in the freezing cold, and I convinced Kathryn to let me take pictures of her in the snow :)

February 2014

February was really bipolar, weather-wise. One day it would be in the 50’s, and the next day it would snow! On one of the extremely cold days, DJ and Roman and I spend an afternoon in Staunton! It’s one of my favorite places <3 And while you’re making those meatballs, go ahead and whip up a batch of these Recee’s stuffed peanut butter cookies… You can thank me later.

March 2014

Kate, Jenny, and I risked getting frostbite for these portraits, and they turned out beautiful!! Some of my very favorite portraits of some of my very favorite people <3 I made the cutest elephant pancake ever, and I tried my hand at some double-exposures! On the first day of spring, Joelle and I took some portraits, because the beautiful light was back!! Since I love before & afters so much, I made another post showing my progress for the last 2 years! DJ and I decided that we were becoming adults in only a few days, so we had to do something crazy. Thus, Messy Twister! :) A huge change for me was relaunching Emily Sacra Photography!! I decided to stop posting on my old blog, and only post here! It was such a big step, and it’s been great!!

April 2014

I turned eighteen, and we spent the day at Short Pump shopping :) One of the highlights of my year was having the opportunity to attend a Delight Retreat!! It was an incredible experience, and I got to meet some of the most amazing people in the world <3 Delight has become a huge part of my life, and I’m so thankful for it!! Easter was spent with my family, and exploring downtown Staunton with DJ! I made the most delicious chocolate chip cookie stuffed pretzels that you absolutely need to try ;)

May 2014

Joelle and I created some fun Frozen videos, and I took portraits of my parents! Kate turned 24, and we took photos of her beautiful self <3 On Mother’s Day, May 11th, Thomas proposed to Jenny!! It was such a relief to not have to keep that secret anymore :) Joelle and I made a slip n’ slide, to cool off in the extreme heat! Thomas & Jenny’s proposal was featured on How He Asked, and it basically made my life!! At the end of May, Kate moved to Florida! We miss her a lot, but it’s really nice to be able to fly down and have a vacation home ready ;)

June 2014

I started babysitting Olivia {or as I call her, Baby}, and we have quickly become best friends! She is the sweetest little girl, and I love her so much!! I began second-shooting for Meredith, and started by photographing Alex & Taylor’s wedding! I revealed my new room {still a work in progress :)}, and also my new studio space!! I photographed Thomas & Jenny’s engagement session, and they are some of my favorite photos!!  On June 26th, I left for Alaska!! It was my first time on a plane, and I had an amazing trip :)

July 2014

I posted about my trip to the Tanalian Bible Camp in Port Alsworth, Alaska! It was definitely one of the best parts of my year :) Jenny made a fun guest post: “10 Things I’m Not Doing At My Wedding {And You Don’t Have To Either}” :) An amazing addition to our summer was getting a pool!! It was so wonderful to be able to just go jump in the pool whenever we wanted :) Oliver turned four years old, and I made him the cutest little birthday hat ;) I made a post about how important it is to see how much you’ve grown, and look at your improvement!

August 2014

Jenny and I flew down to Florida to stay with Kate for a week! The highlight of our trip was going to Disney World!! We had never been, and even though it was the hottest day of my life, it was so much fun :) I photographed Zach & Hannah at the county fair, and they turned out so beautiful!! All the colors at the fair were marvelous <3 DJ and I went to Kings Dominion, and we both ended up blacking out on a roller coaster. Oops. I traveled down to Virginia Beach for a Delight reunion! I loved getting to see a few of the girls from the retreat in April, and we had the best time <3 While in VA Beach, we got to do a stylized anniversary shoot!! It included a wedding dress, the beach, and a dog… How can you go wrong?? I finished decorating my room, and shared the final reveal! I also made a fun video about Beauty!

September 2014

Joelle started fourth grade!! The whole family went to the Baltimore Aquarium, and we met a very special someone there ;) I wrote a post on  how 2014 was not turning out the way I thought it would at all, but it was way better :) Joelle and I re-created our photographer’s duel, which resulted in me putting my camera on Auto for the first time :) Kate came home, and the wedding week began!! On September 27th, Thomas & Jenny got MARRIED!! What an amazing day :)

October 2014

I shared some behind-the-scenes of the wedding, and also how I managed to photograph my sister’s wedding! I got 500 likes on Facebook, hitting my goal 12 weeks early! :) My grandpa turned 78, and I showed a few old photos of him :) I shared my secret to luxurious and magical hair ;) I took Joelle’s 10th birthday portraits in a beautiful sunlit field, and then we celebrated her real 10th birthday! Double-digits!! Woo-hoo!

November 2014

I bought the cutest pair of shoes ever, and revealed my finished website!! I second-shot my last wedding of the season, and it ended up being one of my favorite weddings of the year!! I offered mini sessions and had a lot of interest! I filled up all of my slots for the first weekend, and also the second!! DJ and I watched the premier of Mockingjay, and we pretty much freaked out. I purchased the 100mmL lens, and I absolutely love it!!

December 2014

I took portraits of Lillian in the snow, and DJ and I spent a day in Charlottesville! We got our Christmas tree on a rainy Saturday morning, and Kate came home for Christmas on the 17th! Kate, Joelle, and I went ice skating in Charlottesville, and on Christmas Eve Eve we got to stay at Massanutten and go tubing! Christmas day was spent opening gifts and relaxing with family. I showed off the wedding album I made for Jenny & Thomas, because it’s just so darn beautiful!

We aren’t doing anything super special for New Years… just quietly slipping into 2015! :)

And of course, my favorite part of the show ;)

    OK, two questions:

    1. With all the THOUSANDS of gorgeous photos you take each year, how in the world do you ever decide which ones to include in these end-of-year wrap-ups???

    2. How long did it take you to decide on these and do this post???

Also, it was sweet to see my little girlie and I in this post – thanks!
