I am so excited that you're here! This is where I share my latest sessions, personal photos, and funny life stories. You'll quickly hear about my obsessive cleaning habits, my adorable pup, and probably a little something about fruit pizza (only the best food ever created). So grab a drink (something iced for me... yes, even in the winter), and scroll through the archives!
The story starts way back in 2010. I was 13 years old, and pretty intense about blogging. I started my own blog design company (let’s not dwell on that too long…), made lots of new friends, and in general posted random updates that nobody should care about. Except there was one girl who really cared, and her name was Sarah-Anne.
I went back in the email archives, and found that our first interaction was July 3, 2010. She had found me through another friends blog, and left a comment on one of my posts. Fast forward a few months and this girl was leaving comments on every single post I made (bless her heart.), and I was helping her with her blog design! Somewhere along the line, we started talking about things not related to blogging, and we soon realized that we were more similar than we thought.
We continued to email back and forth for 2 years, talking about everything under the sun! When I turned 15, I got my first phone, and we swapped numbers. We have exchanged thousands and thousands of texts (most of them written JUST LIKE THIS because we’re so easily excited) over the years, and became closer and closer. Before I knew it, Sarah-Anne had become my best friend, and someone I couldn’t live without! She is always there if I need someone to vent to late at night, and I know she will always laugh at the Vines I find funny. She is the brunette version of me… Sarcastic, fellow-ex-Chick-Fil-A-worker, and sometimes slightly crazy. ;)
For years we have talked about needing to meet, but since she lives in North Carolina, and neither of us had our license (or cars that would carry us far…) for years, meeting seemed very far away. It became more of a “holy crap, we might actually be able to do this” a year ago when I bought my new car and drove 6 hours to a wedding. I asked mom “how come you’ll let me drive 6 hours to a wedding, but not 4 1/2 hours to meet my best friend??” and mom shocked me by saying “no, I think you should go!” !! But finding a time in both our schedules was the next problem. I had weddings, she had nursing school, and it just never seemed to work out. But then two weeks ago, I got a text from Sarah-Anne saying that her spring break was coming up. And she was driving to see me.
Ummm, this is the perfect time to freak out. After 6 years of waiting, we were finally going to be able to meet! She pulled into my driveway on Monday afternoon, and it was like watching a sister come home. We said that it was so weird that it didn’t feel weird at all! Everything was exactly the way it should be. It was so amazing having her here for a few days, and I was so sad watching her leave! I can’t wait for the next time we’ll meet again. Love you, Sarah-Anne!!
After she arrived on Monday, I drove her all around Harrisonburg, showing her all the places she’d heard me talk about before. We also just freaked out over the fact that we were in the same place at the same time. Then of course, we watched The Bachelor and made fun of all the contestants. Good times.
Tuesday we went to Staunton to take pictures… obviously. What else would two girls who met because of a mutual interest in photography do?
Not gonna lie, the first few seconds I was just going crazy because I was photographing Sarah-Anne!! The girl I had only seen in photographs for 6 years!
Isn’t she just the cutest Southern thing you’ve ever seen?
We got some delicious gelato from The Split Banana, which was perfect during this super warm weather we’ve been having!!
Wednesday we went hiking on Skyline Drive. It was about 75* degrees, and so beautiful! I only wish the trees were blooming, and not looking so dead. Haha!
After the hike, we pulled over at another overlook and ate lunch!
Wednesday afternoon we got some pretzels at the mall, and after dinner we ate Oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies while we binge watched Fixer Upper.
It was an absolutely amazing few days. So blessed to have someone in my life like her!
